How to sponsor a Mass
Anyone is welcome to sponsor a Mass for someone or a family. The request can be submitted by calling the rectory at 219-932-0702 or by filling out the form below.
Please allow one online submission per request.
Requests should be submitted at least 1 week in advance of the desired date.
A $10 donation is expected - paid to Saint Joseph Church.
Payment is to be delivered or mailed to the parish rectory at 5304 Hohman Avenue, Hammond, IN, 46320.
Be advised that the request is not automatically granted. You will be contacted by the parish rectory to confirm the request or reschedule a different date/time.
A maximum of 2 sponsorships are allowed per Mass.
Anyone sponsoring a Mass is expected to take up the gifts (bread & wine) during Mass. Before Mass begins, the sponsor(s) must let the ushers know they will be taking up the gifts of bread & wine. Otherwise, other people will volunteer to fulfill that duty.
First Sunday Mass each month is always sponsored by the Altar & Rosary Society. Second Sunday Mass each month is always sponsored by the Holy Name Society. Those groups will assist in taking up the gifts on their assigned weeks, unless a different sponsor informed the ushers that they will do so.
And if a baptism, 1st communion, or confirmation is celebrated at a Mass, those receiving the sacraments for the first time should take up the gifts of bread & wine.
